BHOPAL: A large number of persons returned disappointed from Subhash School of Excellence near Arera Colony on the National Voters' Day on Friday as they failed to get their name registered for voter's identity card. They had come from distant localities like Ayodhya Nagar and Vallabh Nagar for registration of their name.
People were generally confused and uninformed about the centres, where they can get their name registered for the voter's identity card.
In fact, most of them complained that they only knew about the Subhash School as the centre and nothing else.
"I reached here for the voter's card for my entire family, but could not get it done. I have been told that I should approach another centre in Shahpura area where I live and nothing could be done here at Subhash school," said Anita Saxena, a resident of Shahpura.
Shailendra Sharma, who came from Ayodhya bypass, said, "They should have at least informed people that there would be different centres for different areas of Bhopal." "I wasted my time energy and money to reach here."
Ashwini Sen, a 20-year-old youth from Vallabh Nagar, said, "If the election commission really wanted to help voters on the Voters' Day, they should have worked with sincerity."
Shailendra Singh Patel, election commission official, present at Subhash School, said, "This centre is meant for residents of Arera area--for E-1 only. People from all over Bhopal are coming here, but I am helpless as I can only take forms from E-1 Arera Colony."
